Dodatek

W piątym opowiadaniu pod tytułem "Sąsiadka" jest postać, którą nazwałam Eleonor Michaels. Jej "prototyp" wymyśliłam w 2003 r. w czasie studiów, na zajęcia z pisania. Powstało wtedy krótkie opowiadanie bez dalszego ciągu.

Poniżej oryginalny tekst tego opowiadania oraz jego streszczenie po polsku. Opowiadanie nie miało tytułu i niech tak zostanie. 

Mój nauczyciel Mr A.D. sprawdził tekst a uwagi - na szczęście nieliczne i prawie w całości dotyczące interpunkcji - uwzględniłam. Oczywiście biorę odpowiedzialność za wszystkie błędy, które ewentualnie pozostały.

Właśnie w piątym opowiadaniu "Sąsiadka" jest pewien niewyjaśniony element. Rozwiązanie poniżej.

She knew it would happen again. It was beyond her control. She just loved murdering.

Being forty five she was still a very attractive woman. A lot of men were willing to meet her and she always chose the richest ones. To be honest, she met only one man at a time. They engaged very soon, then married even faster and a husband died usually during the honey moon in Hawaii.

She became a very rich person as she inherited after her husbands, but hoping to become rich was not the most important motive of her deeds. As mentioned before she loved murdering itself and preparations as well. It was very exciting to decide what kind of death to choose, when to commit a murder and what alibi to prepare. She was humane in a way as she never wanted her victims to suffer. All of them died happy and smiling.

As usual such things start by accident. About twenty years before, her first husband died because of her inattention. She stored arsenic dilution in a bottle with no label. Although the dilution looked like water it was very effective to uproot weeds. One hot summer afternoon, she and her husband were talking in the barn and before she managed to do anything, her husband being thirsty took a large gulp of arsenic and died within seconds. At first she was shocked and afraid she would go to prison, but nobody suspected her and the death seemed natural. Actually it looked as if her husband had died of heart attack. Her only guilt was not to tell the whole truth to people.

Soon she realised she liked the feeling connected with the death of her husband. She decided to experience it again, and again. At first victims were accidental: people in the restaurants or the cinema, but later she decided to derive profits from murders. It was very convenient to murder husbands. Especially her own ones.

Five months ago she met a very handsome and wealthy aristocrat. They fell in love with each other. Two weeks ago she married him. Two hours ago she murdered him. She knew it would happen again.

Streszczenie:

Pewna atrakcyjna kobieta uwielbia mordować. Pierwsza śmierć była spowodowana jej zaniedbaniem, mąż wypił środek na chwasty z nieoznaczonej butelki. Następne śmierci to były planowane morderstwa kolejnych bogatych mężów kobiety. Przed dwoma godzinami jej ofiarą padł jeszcze jeden mąż, przystojny i bogaty arystokrata i nie wygląda, że to ostatnie morderstwo popełnione przez kobietę.
